Will replacement timber windows and doors add value to my home?

Who will install the windows for me?

How often will my windows need to be re-decorated?
Broadly speaking one should expect our coatings to last for 5 to 7 years without the need for re-decoration. The precise cycle will depend on a number of environmental factors such as the geographic location of your property and the particular aspect and amount of exposure to the elements the window receives.
Are timber windows good for the environment?
According to Greenpeace "As long as timber is sourced from properly managed forests...timber windows are by far the best environmental choice" (Greenpeace Briefing: Installing New Windows 1997).
What are the payment terms?
Payment terms will be clearly stated on your written quotation. In general a 40% deposit is payable with order with the balance due on delivery/completion.

What should I look for in a new window?
You should certainly consider custom-sized windows because they will adapt easier to any special design configuration that your architect may present to you. Stock-sized windows might require extensive carpentry work and are often not available in sizes to suit your design.
Do I need Double Glazing?
Yes! Only double glazing offers convenient comfort and security levels all year round. Besides the glazing minimal air leakage is important for thermal efficient windows and doors. Conclusion: Double glazing is necessary in modern homes to block unwanted heat gain (summer) and heat loss (winter). Low conductive frame material (e.g. thermal break profiles), compressible gaskets and supporting hardware are additions you should consider.
Is double glazing enough?

How secure are Steel windows/doors?
Steel is three times stronger than aluminum and many times stronger than wood. The strength of steel provides added security.
What types of glass can be used in a steel window?
Steel windows can accommodate glass thicknesses ranging from 1/8" to 1-1/4", including single pane, laminated or leaded glass, and most any of the high performance insulated glass products currently available.
What styles of doors are available in steel?
Swing-Out, Swing-In, BiFold, Sliding, and Pivoted.
